My name is Emma Shannon and I am new to the blogisphere but through this practice I hope to document my final few weeks of my degree at the Glasgow School of Art and perhaps beyond. I am currently studying textile design specialising in weave. The focus of my project is Brutalist architecture, documented during a tour completed this summer, which I am trying to garner a new appreciation for, through the medium of weave. I hope to provide an account of the highs/ lows encounted on this, the last part of this period of my creative journey.

Currently watching the dr feelgood documentary with one eye open after a sucessfull days weaving. A new 20 thread warp put on alone as there was no-one in the building, believe, I checked. There was me at the back of the AVL, legs akimbo, winding and pulling my warp back at the same time. I got 16 inches out of 20 done of my 3rd final sample despite the comical position. Last of the double cloths for a while on the AVL, on to a pointed twill designs tomorrow. I'll sleep well knowing that I finally have some samples I'm happy with and they look like the brutalist structures I've referenced. Park Hill, Sheffield, Hanover Drive, Sheffield and Balfron Tower, London. Then work, a diversion that makes me some much needed yarn money.
